BBC Radio Five Live is the BBC's radio service providing live BBC News, phone-in shows, and sporting event commentaries. It is the principal radio station covering sport in the United Kingdom, broadcasting virtually all major sports events staged in the UK or involving British teams or athletes, like the World Cup, the Olympic Games, the Grand Slam tournaments and the Cricket World Cup.

Radio Five Live launched on March 28 1994. Its first audiences were some four million. It now has a record audience of over six and a quarter million, making it one of the most popular stations in the UK.
